Weekday evening are usually pretty chill around the SFF household and most evenings are spent in. But some good friends who spent the summer in town are heading out next week and invited us celebrate their 15th anniversary with them. The plan was to meet up at the local minor league baseball park for some of America’s favorite pastime, baseball.
The baseball field is about 2.5 miles away so Mr. SFF and I rode our bikes. The temps were high but it was a nice ride and was much better than that hassle of trying to find a place to park. Tickets are pretty cheap which makes this particular park great. Last night was particularly wonderful though as it was 25¢ hot dog night (woohoo, thank you McKenzie’s)!
After ordering our hot dogs, fries and beer, we went to our seats. I am not sure if it was the hot dog promotion that drew huge crowds but the game ended up being a sell out and as a result none of our tickets were close together. We spent the first two innings in our respective seats until converging in one of the sections together when we noticed there were group of empty seats next together.
The game itself was not all that great (they got crushed) but the company was great which is what the night was all about. It was also great that we were able to go out and do a family friendly activity together and not break the bank in the process. Here is the total cost breakdown of the evening:
2 Tickets: $16
5 hot dogs: $1.25
Not bad for a night out with friends! Now if it has been a regular old night without the hot dog promotion we probably would have spent another $10-15 on food so it was so great that we had that savings. Although we don’t go to games very often it is great that we do have this activity right in town and it doesn’t cost a fortune. This goes to show that a family could have an evening out without blowing their budget, you just have to know where to go (and what night is 25¢ hot dog night).
